Most medical Aid Schemes have a clause within their rules stating that the Scheme will not be liable for the medical expenses relating to the treatment arising from an injury, or third party liability. In majority of cases, the cost of all medical benefits paid on behalf of members who are entitled to institute personal injury claims (e.g. motor vehicle accident /MVA) can be recovered.

Through our association with other medical schemes, we noted that a number of accident related claims (where another party was liable), had been slipping through the system undetected, resulting in thousands, if not millions of rands being paid out and not recovered.
